Smokin' Eyes Guide

Smokin' Eyes

The smoky eyes style is drawing more and more people daily. It looks simple enough and is certainly beautifully alluring but it also looks like it takes a lot of work. The truth is as most of those who have tried it by themselves can attest, it may not be quite as easy as it first seemed. The good news is that with a small amount of practice and willingness to follow a few basic instructions, the smokin eyes technique will be perfected and appear to be professionally done. Let's look at some tips on how best to accomplish the smoky eye look using our easy makeup guide.

What Will Be Needed

* Eye shadow in 3 shades-a dark shade, a medium shade and a light shade(It is with a neutral or white shadow one can do the most basic smoky eye, a medium shade of silver or gray, and for the darkest shade a darker gray or black. One seeking a reinvented smoky eye look should feel free to experiment with different color palettes).

* Eye shadow brush (Or if a person would prefer not to between each color wash the brush, several brushes instead).

* Eyeliner - a black pencil liner or if desired a black liquid liner.

* Mascara

One can at this time as they would no normally prior to getting started apply to their face any powder, foundation or concealer. Then so that the look will remain without creasing or smudging for hours, smear on a bit of shadow primer. It also works great placing all over the eyelid some concealer. One can then select from the shadows already in their possession or purchase the colors that will blend and match well.

At this point, with the lightest shade selected it is time to start. It should be worked into the eyelid's inner corner and continue outward with the clean eye shadow brush to cover the lid's inner half. Onto the brow bone some should be swept as well. At this point, to the crease of the eyelid , the medium shade should be applied using a clean brush. To blend the shades the color should be worked a bit upward toward the brow bone by the use of a weeping arc motion crossing the lid's full length. The darkest shade should then be used to fill the eyelid's outer corner. It should be carefully blended into the crease's outer corner and slightly towards it's middle.

One is now ready for the finishing touches to be applied. Using either the pencil liner or the palette's darkest shade just under the lashes the eye's lower lead should be lined. Against the lashes the line should be held tight and fairly thin. Working to the outer corner from the inner one to the top of the lid the liquid liner should be applied thickening the line while approaching. The smoldering smoky eye gaze is completed by a favorite mascara being applied to both bottom and top lashes.
