How To Perfect Your Eye Make-Up

Perfect Your Look with Eye Make-Up

Many women feel that If they don’t wear make-up very often, it seems impossible to achieve the much desired natural yet beautiful look. Fortunately, it requires very little practice and only a handful of products to achieve a eye-perfection.

When it comes to lips and eye make-up, you will want to be experimental with your colour choices and perhaps adopt a different style to suit each particular occasion and time of day. While it is always important to find the right colours and style that suit both your complexion, it is also essential that your look reflects your personality and personal brand. There are a few eye make-up rules that you should stick to that will help to perfect your look in no time at all.

Colour Selection
By far, the most important factor to consider when choosing eye make-up is the colour of your eyes. While greys, blacks and browns are colours that anyone can wear, it is always better to begin with soft, subtle, neutral colours.

If you have brown eyes then make them glimmer and shine with gold tones. The best way to use gold as an eye colour is to use it as an accent with another shade such as green, which will look beautiful against a darker eye colour.

Green eyes will always work really well with a sensual, smoky look that is perfect for evenings (and even in the day if kept subtle). Experiment with different browns, greys, and charcoal shades to really bring out the intense colour of your eyes, giving them a new dimension.

To make blue eyes look stunningly beautiful, try a shade of eye shadow that is a darker blue than your own eyes. Dark purples also serve well to make blue eyes sparkle as do varying shades of light green.

Once you have become comfortable with applying softer shades to your eyes, you will find it easier to experiment with brighter and much bolder colours as well as trying out new application methods that will make a true statement.

The Application
Once you have the right shades and tones of eye shadow you need to think about the form of application to the eye area. Ideally you should have three eye shadows, each a shade similar to the next and applied accordingly.

Start with the lightest shade in your colour family and administer it to the brow bone, sweeping the colour across lightly. The darkest tone should be applied directly under the first, into the crease of the eye and gently blended into the cooler shade above to provide a flawless union. The medium shade should be applied directly to the eye lid and again, carefully blended into the shade above.

When applying your eye make-up always use an eye shadow brush or sponge to make the application smoother and more manageable. To blend eye colours for that flawless finish, use the tip of your finger to gently smudge the make-up and eradicate any strong defining lines.

The Liner
To really emphasise the natural colour of your eyes, consider using an eye liner. Most opt for a black or dark brown liner but while these choices add a dramatic touch to your eye make-up, it also serves to narrow the eyes. To really lift and open up your eyes, try using a white eye liner pencil along the bottom of your eye. The bright white will open up your entire eye, making your eyes appear larger and brighter than ever.

Mascara
Using a good quality mascara completes the look. Using the mascara wand, start at the base of the lash and wiggle back and forth using tiny movements. Follow with another layer once the first has dried to perfect your eye make-up look.
